Run2meet Meeting through sport
A first date on a group run.
Run2meet was a meeting app for people who love sport. Members found each other through the sport they shared, then met at a group session, a workshop or a race. We built the concept, the product and the events behind it.
The situation
Meeting apps were generic, and a match rarely turned into a real meeting.
A photo says little about how two people would get on. A shared passion says more, and a first meeting alone at a table puts pressure on both.
The idea needed two businesses under one brand: a web and mobile product to find each other, and an events operation to meet in person, in several cities, with enough members nearby for both to work.
Around the company
What we decided
A few choices made the difference. Each one came with its reason.
- 01
Match people on the sport they share.
Members list up to three sports and search by sport, city, age and distance. A shared passion starts the conversation.
- 02
The first date in a group, on an activity.
Group sessions of 20 to 30 people, workshops and races take the pressure off and let people meet as they are.
- 03
Events as the growth engine.
Each event gave members a reason to meet and newcomers a reason to sign up, and partnerships with races and clubs brought new people each time.
- 04
Free to join, paid to go further.
Sign-up stayed free for everyone to build density; a premium plan funded the product.
What changed, actor by actor
| Actor | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Members | Generic apps, chats that went nowhere, first dates under pressure. | Matched on a shared sport, met at a group activity. |
| Races, coaches and clubs | No link with singles looking for a reason to come. | Partners of the events, with new participants at each one. |
| Cities | Too few members nearby to meet. | Events and content building local density, city by city. |
